Boris Novikov

Boris Novikov graduated from the Leningrad University in 1972 as a Dipl. Math. (dept. of algebra and number theory), received a PhD in Comp.Sci. from the same university in 1981, and Dr. Sci. degree in 1994. Boris Novikov is a professor, department of Analytical Information Systems, St.-Petersburg university, Russia. He also occasionally works as a database expert for the industry. His research interests are in the wide area of information management and include design and use of database systems, transaction management, indexing, clustering, and data structures, query processing and optimization, performance tuning, and management of distributed heterogeneous information resources. He also worked in the areas of software engineering, application design, and transaction management in distributed mobile systems. During his career he combined academic activities with practical experience in the system programming, database application design, development, and tuning. Boris Novikov served as a General Chair of ICDE 2016, EDBT/ICDT 2009, Program Committee Cahir of ADBIS conference in 2007, PC Chair for several workshops, a member of EDBT Association, ADBIS Steering Committee, and a program committee member for several international conferences, including VLDB, EDBT, ADBIS, and Baltic DB&IS, and workshops.
