500 PostgreSQL Clusters Later: Building a CloudNativePG-Powered DBaaS Platform

As PostgreSQL adoption grows across engineering and data teams, operating databases consistently, securely, and at scale becomes a major platform challenge. In this talk, we’ll share our journey building an internal PostgreSQL Database-as-a-Service platform powered by CloudNativePG, which now manages 500+ PostgreSQL clusters across our organization.

We’ll cover why we chose a Kubernetes-native approach, how CloudNativePG enabled us to standardize provisioning, backups, high availability, upgrades, monitoring, and operational workflows, and the lessons we learned while scaling from early adoption to a production platform used by many teams.

The session will focus on practical implementation details, including:

  • Designing a self-service PostgreSQL platform on Kubernetes
  • Operating hundreds of PostgreSQL clusters with CloudNativePG
  • Standardizing HA, backup, restore, monitoring, and lifecycle management
