Dr. Ibrar Ahmed
Dr. Ibrar Ahmed, now Principal Engineer at pgEdge, has dedicated 27 years to software engineering—22 of them to PostgreSQL core development—after starting his career in embedded systems. He joined EnterpriseDB in 2006 as a Senior Software Architect, where he delivered major performance and feature advances to PostgreSQL before moving on to Percona as a Principal Engineer, deepening his work on high-availability and distributed database architectures. At pgEdge he continues in a Principal Engineer role, designing edge-ready, highly available PostgreSQL solutions while contributing upstream code, integrating PostgreSQL with Hive, HBase, Spark, MongoDB, and other data platforms. A prolific community advocate, Ibrar has presented more than 70 talks in the last four years, authored several authoritative books on PostgreSQL and MySQL, and is recognized among the top 100 most influential figures in the global database community.
