Hamid Akhtar is a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, where he works on PostgreSQL internals, Citus, and change data capture for PostgreSQL-based Microsoft Fabric mirroring. His work focuses on large-scale data replication, extension development, performance, security, and observability.
Before joining Microsoft, Hamid worked as an architect and senior developer across several PostgreSQL-focused organizations. His past work includes multi-active replication with pgEdge’s Spock, Transparent Data Encryption, the pg_stat_monitor observability extension, ORC FDW, PostgreSQL auto-tuning, and the official PostgreSQL installers.
