This session discusses how at Tines we use logical replication in PostgreSQL to facilitate major version upgrades and tenant migrations with minimal downtime. Participants will discover the concepts of logical replication and its different uses. We'll also discuss the use of pg_easy_replicate, a tool developed at Tines, which has been instrumental in performing seamless upgrades across 50+ production databases via blue/green setup with DNS based switchovers. The talk aims to provide practical insights into leveraging logical replication and pg_easy_replicate for efficient database transitions with minimal impact on operations.
