Scaling past RDS PostgreSQL's vertical scaling limits: Lessons and guidance on the largest PostgreSQL workloads

Date: 2024-10-02
Time: 10:40–11:30
Room: The Forum
Level: Intermediate
Feedback: Leave feedback

Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) operates a variety of large, very-high-throughput PostgreSQL databases in unusual architectures. Over the years, we've experienced substantial performance and availability challenges that we've had to mitigate. We'd like to share our experience in maintaining large PostgreSQL instances that reach vertical scaling limits, our long-term solutions, how we bought time when migrating to more performant architectures.
