Date: 2019-09-11
Time: 14:00 - 17:00
Room: Salon 17
Level: Intermediate

In this hands-on tutorial we will cover many of the capabilities that make Postgres the world’s most advanced open source relational database. Specifically, we'll dive deep on how to build scalable real-time analytics applications using Postgres in the cloud. To do this, we’ll go hands-on and use Azure Database for PostgreSQL including Hyperscale (Citus). Topics include: Why more & more teams are choosing Postgres The Postgres features that matter most to real-time analytics Schema designs for ingesting large amounts of data Compare & contrast approaches for rolling up data Walk through sample real-time analytics dashboard queries How to use HyperLogLog (HLL) for fast approximations Using pg_cron to periodically expire older data & reduce costs How to use Hyperscale (Citus) to scale out Postgres horizontally and deliver real-time analytics at even greater scale How to build a complete real-time analytics pipeline in the cloud using Azure Database for PostgreSQL
