Call for Volunteers

PgUS is looking for people to join our Committees, as well as looking to fill some specific roles, to help us accomplish our goals of supporting PostgreSQL and growing the community.

The following Committees are looking for members:

The Diversity Committee promotes an inclusive environment in the PostgreSQL community through outreach programs and the support of educational endeavors for underrepresented PostgreSQL users in the United States. Sarah Conway Schnurr is the current chair of the committee.

The User Group Committee promotes the education of the public about PostgreSQL by holding monthly, semi-monthly, or other regularly scheduled local meetings (aka "meetups") to bring together those interested in learning about PostgreSQL (either physically or virtually), either directly or by working with local organizers of PostgreSQL User Groups (aka PUGs). Dave Cramer is the current chair of the committee.

The Expo Committee promotes the use and education of PostgreSQL by exhibiting at various non-PostgreSQL events, either directly or by working with other volunteers, in-person or virtually, where those events are suitably aligned with PgUS's mission (eg: non-profit, volunteer-run general events such as SCALE, or open-source focused events such as FOSS4G). Mark Wong is the current chair of the committee.

Communications Director. PgUS is exploring ways to improve communications with our members. Some of the options we are considering are: • more frequent social media postings • expanding social media channels • updating the News feed on the PgUS website more frequently • monthly emails to the membership with updates from the Board, the Committees, and other PgUS news To that end, PgUS is looking for an individual who could lead these outreach efforts, working with the board and officers, to communicate with our membership and to run membership drives and solicit the membership for help with committees and other PgUS efforts.

The Committee member selection process is outlined here: https://postgresql.us/policies/

Please email us at contact (at) postgresql (dot) us and let us know your interest!
